The text for Pastor John's message can be found in the book of Romans,

Chapter 7, verse 7 through 12.

What shall we say then is the law sin? May it never be? On the contrary, I would not have come

to no sin except through the law. For I would not have known about coveting if the law had not said,

you shall not covet. But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment,

produce and me coveting of every kind, for apart from the law

sin is dead.

And I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died.

And this commandment which was to result in life proved to result in death for me.

For sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, deceive me, and through it kill me.

So then the law is holy and the commandment is holy and

righteous and good.

Father, we seek your help now as listeners, responders, a preacher, all of us over your sacred word, the scriptures.

And I ask, Father, for your help to be faithful to the meaning that you intended when you

inspired these writers. Let me read my own ideas into the word but your ideas

out and may we all together through those truths see you and the risen Christ and be drawn to

faith.

Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God.

So grant that faith would be begotten this morning and strengthened.

Magnify Christ now, I ask Father, in our midst.
