Hello, again, my friends. It is good to be back with you. It's also good to know that you're

on the other side of this audio, that you're listening, you're digging into God's word,

and that you are doing so to align your mind with the truth of God's word today. That's

why I'm doing this. That's how I hope you are approaching this as well. Let's dig into

it.

If you saw the title for this episode, you might expect we have some pretty big things

to deal with today, because Jesus says some things that really blow the minds of the religious

leaders he's talking to. And I think you're going to understand why in just a minute. We're

going to be reading John chapter 8 verses 52 through 55. Now remember, we're in the context

where Jesus is speaking to the religious leaders and they've been coming after him. In fact,

they just called him a racial slur and demon possessed. And he responded to that very graciously,

very kindly, just pointing them back to where he's come from and that the father has actually

put his stamp of approval on what Jesus is saying. And these Jewish leaders respond again.

Did you set to him? Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died as did the prophets.

What you say, if anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death. Are you greater than

our father Abraham who died? And the prophets died? Who do you make yourself out to be?

Now let's stop for a moment. Can you hear how insensed these people are? They are

just so offended by what Jesus is saying that he's claiming something of himself of such

a great importance and stature that his very words can keep someone from eternal death

from spiritual death. They are looking backwards. They're looking at their history and ancestry

of Abraham and the prophets and seeing that all those people died. So this guy who's

claiming to keep people from death, he must be thinking he's greater than all those heroes

...
