divorce can sound strange.

Even many Christians have, without realizing it, failed to see marriage as a lifelong

covenant union between one man and woman, a union that bears witness to the relationship between Christ and his bride, the church.

So a few weeks ago I mentioned from Ethiopia that based on our Bible reading in Malachi at that time and now readings

this week and next week in Mark and Matthew, we would be diving into what Jesus teaches about two significant issues in our lives, marriage and money.

This past week we read Mark 10.

This next week we'll read Matthew 19 both of these passages describe Jesus teaching

on marriage and money back to back. So today we're going to hear what Jesus teaches

about marriage and divorce and next week we'll hear what Jesus

teaches about money and materialism and on both topics Jesus speaks in a way that is very different from the way this world speaks

and very different from the way we are all prone to think.

And on both of these topics, I would say we are tempted to ignore

what Jesus says. In a materialistic culture it's not really popular to talk about
