Have you ever watched someone bring a small boat into the harbor and pull up to the dock?

There's a tricky moment when a sailor steps from his floating vessel onto the dock that can be quite precarious.

You see, you can't have one foot in both worlds, one in the boat and one on the dock, not for long at least.

One little slip and curplunk into the water you go.

Well, that's a good metaphor for life and it sets the stage for today's topic as well.
