Summary

Jess Magic is a heARTist, a soul-stirring songstress, and a muse for today's generation of change-makers. More than a singer, Jess is a musical story-teller who creates compelling opportunities for people to interact with life from an open heart.

In a world where so many are longing for deeper levels of connection, authentic expression and intimacy, Jess weaves a "spell" of love with each song and story to reveal aspects of the human experience that crack open the hearts of those who are touched by her presence.

As an emcee (a.k.a. "Mistress of Ceremonies"), a speaker and a social entrepreneur, Jess Magic uses her voice and charismatic presence to break down barriers between artist and audience, giving people permission to drop the masks and be seen in their most raw, joyful and sincere expression.

In this episode, we talk about how to really feel freedom and fulfillment, how to have songversations, how to have the heart take information and really feel it, singing in public, feeling safe and free while getting over past fears, how to free your voice and build a connection, the ways Jess dealt with grief but didn't stay in grief, and much more.

Enjoy!

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2019. It's New Year's Eve. So I'm going to read to you a little

0:07.3

thing I wrote about feeling stuck. Progress feels so good and makes everything I'm doing

0:16.3

easier and more enjoyable. Progress used to come and go. I'd go weeks enjoying it and

0:22.9

then I'd plateau. I thought the plateau was going to last a day or two, but most of the

0:28.5

time it lasted weeks or even months. When I would start making progress again seemed like

0:35.3

a mystery. I would start trying different things to get back into it. If I plateaued long

0:40.9

enough I would find a new training program or a coach. Looking back, my approach was

0:46.5

random even though I thought I was operating from a place of knowing. I didn't know why I

0:52.1

was plateauing. All I knew is that I felt like I was stuck. I didn't have a clear path

0:57.9

in my mind. My view was too narrow to see all the parts that were contributing to my

1:03.5

success or my failure. I was focused on a few numbers and didn't see the bigger picture.

1:10.6

My mind was incapable of seeing the picture because it was crowded out with all the things

1:15.9

I did not want. There was something I didn't know that I didn't know that was screwing

1:22.2

up my gains. My mind was untrained. Even if I had known that was my limiter, I didn't

1:30.0

know where to start. Injury has been a great teacher. It was after I made my body useless

1:37.5

numerous times that I put more of my focus on my business. I got a taste for personal

1:45.1

development when meeting people at a business conference. These people talk different.

1:50.4

They lived different. They were having a good time and achieving great things. What set

1:56.2

them apart was where they were putting their attention. Very little focus on what they

2:01.4

didn't want and a lot of focus on what they did want. Their minds were focused. It was

2:08.6

early on that a mentor of mine said, it's easy to be against something. Try being for

2:15.6

something. There's enough anti-activists in this world. Be a pro-activist. This was
