Jerry! Episode 8, Friend of Jerry. We're gonna do something different today, something special. You know, I've been getting in the wrestling community for the last two years, and I always wanted to wrestle, but I always was scared to wrestle. I wrestled one time my whole life. Soft more year. I remember Belleville High School. I went to one practice and after practice I told the coach I don't want to wrestle no more. But nonetheless I think I can wrestle. I think I'm built to be a wrestler. I mean you look look at this body, 197, just screams wrestling. And I'm here today. I'm gonna take on a two time national champ from Penn State, RBY. Some say he's the best in the world. I beg to differ. I think I'm the best in the world. We're gonna have to see, you know, how this plays out. But I'm super excited, super grateful to be here. We'll see, you you know what Jersey Jerry can do on the mat because I think I say I say four three Jersey Jerry that's my prediction. My name is Robert Young two-time national champ two-time big champ champ I'm from Arizona as a four-time undefeated high-school sea champ and I'm excited for this match today. I'm here with my good friend, Danny Boy, hustle hard, professional driver, some say he's an Uber driver. I beg to differ. Danny has no experience when it comes to wrestling, but me and Danny,

But you know, people are going to say what they want to say. I took it a little easy. You know, I walk around at 197 RBY, 133. You know, I shouldn't have took it easy. I think, you know, me taking it easy was a mistake.

4:45.1

I did lose. I got pinned. I think honestly, more of my speed would have to be Gabel Stevens. And I think I wouldn't take it easy that match because we're close to the same weight. I think I'm a little, little bit stronger. But yeah, we'll see what happens in the future. But the match, You won, but I took it easy. We got RBY here. Thank you for doing this. It was amazing.

Really special to be here and experience this with you Congratulations on all the accolades and stuff like that But the reason I actually wanted to do the show with you is because my show is sobriety based. It's called friend of Jerry with Barstool sports and And I've been sober almost seven years and the biggest thing about being sober to me is mental toughness. You got to be mentally tough. And I just wanted to ask you a couple of questions about, you know, Penn State and stuff like that. First of all, how did it start? How did wrestling start for you? When did it start? You know, I started back when I was like four or five. My grandpa coached me and my dad rassled and my uncles and I just been growing up around him my whole life and I just got in it. Me and my brother rassled, we followed my grandpa to practice every day and then it kind of just led from there. But I really didn't start taking it serious until I got held back. I did eighth grade twice. my grandpa's like, you're too small to rest on high school and hold me back. So for a whole year, I didn't go to school, just dropped out and just train with him every day.

6:09.5

And that's when I really started to see my wrestling pick up. So when did colleges start to come out and look at you and say, oh, this kid's the truth? I think at the end of my freshman year, I made like a cadet world team. And I was wanting Fargo. That's a pretty tough tournament growing up. But I didn't even know, to be honest, I didn't even know what Penn State was until like my sophomore year. I didn't know Kayla Sanderson. I never been to an anti-atternement until I got to college. Well, your coach, he's correct me if I'm wrong. Four-time national champ never lost a match. Like nobody's ever done that, right? Yeah, it's unheard of. Yeah, so like one of the best college wrestlers of all time.
