The Jerome Benton from the time is one of Prince's oldest friends and someone who

knew him when they were kids and when they were stars. He blew me away with this story about how Prince

turned a fan's handwritten note into the song I Wonder You.

I mean one of the things that I think we can say about Prince is that

the volume of songs that he wrote and recorded,

you know, which says if I make a thousand songs,

none of them will be good,

but like, you know, a talented guy, if he writes writes 12 you might get two or three if you write

365 songs you're gonna get 12 good ones if you're talented at the thing and I mean like when you're making a song a day

but you got to remember too this is what he's built himself for he He's read, he's played, he's studied. He could take one of those

songs that you won't give any credit to, your lyric, and turn that shit into a hip.

Amazing.
