So Matt, one of the things about this story that just blows my mind is that essentially the only thing bonding these two people together

is a secret and dirt, gossip on the other person. Yes, surely any friendship, even a professional working relationship needs to have more to it than that. Surely. Just pour weight on that.

23rd of October, 1975, X-Mall. On his knees on the soaking wet ground, Norman cradles Rinker's lifeless body on his lap.

Then he raises his gaze to the man who's standing over him, holding a gun to his head. Norman squeezes his eyes shut and prepares to die.

Oh shit. Norman opens his eyes. The gunman carries on cursing, then lifts the revolver from the side of Norman's head and examines it. There's something wrong.

Norman scrambles to his feet, heart pounding in his chest. He races away from the car and into the malls.

The heavy mist swirls around him, making it near impossible to see. The driving rain lashes his face. He doesn't know where he's going.

All he knows is that he has to get as far away from the road as possible.

But as the fear and adrenaline start to leave his body, Norman slows down. Then stops.

He can just about make out the lights of Cardiff twinkling in the distance. Norman is instantly hit by the reality of his situation.

He's on a freezing mall in the middle of nowhere. He's already soaked to the skin. He won't last a night out here.

Norman slumps onto the muddy grass. He starts to cry. But soon as he wipes away the tears, he's overtaken by a feeling of peace. Maybe this was destined to be.

After all, he's looked for a way out of his pain so many times before. All he had was rinker and now she's gone.
