Hey everybody, great one today and I can say that with confidence because this is a repeat.

We here on the Al Franken podcast are taking a well-deserved break this week and by us I mean me and Peter, who's just a du of us.

And by this week I mean the week of Thanksgiving.

We don't do repeats all that much.

We are contracted to do 44 of these a year leaving room for eight repeats.

So if just 18% of our shows are any good at all, we feel like we can guarantee a quality repeat.

And this is quite honestly a great one.

And Jeremy Peters is on about nine months ago with his book Insurgency.

And our Republicans lost their party and gained everything they ever wanted.

And it's all about how the Republican party has gone totally batshit crazy.

But how that batshit crazy part of the party has always been there.

And you can go back to your Pat Buchanan who at the 92 Republican convention said and I quote.

There's a religious war going on in this country.

And you got your newt Gingrich who taught his Republican members how to speak like newt using what we're called contrasting words to apply to your opponent words like sick, pathetic, radical anti flag, anti family, anti child, anti jobs corrupt and traitor.

You got your rush limbo, of course, you're Roger L's Peter's treat us to some Sarah Palin highlights and then brings us crashing into the Trump years with your Steve Bannon's and your Steven Miller's your Marjorie Taylor Greens and Alex Jones's just the whole lot of them.

And of course Trump and all that gives us your fake news alternative facts cruelty, the big lie and dobs.

And while we think that on November 8th the American people said stop it.

These crazies are not going to stop and we are almost certainly looking forward to a shit show over the next two years in the House of Representatives.
