Question number one, Mr. Prime Minister.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I had meetings with ministerial colleagues and others, and in addition to my duties in this House, I shall have further such meetings later today.

Mr. Gordon Henderson.

Mr. Speaker, 75 years ago, Spitfires and Hurricanes were flying over sitting

born in the Battle of Britain, defending our country from Hitler's aggression.

It's particularly appropriate the Royal Air Force protected the Isle of Shepi because it was the birthplace of British aviation, something

with which we Ireland is immensely proud.

Will the Prime Minister join with me in plain tribute to those courageous R.E.F. Airmen

who helped ensure the freedoms we enjoy today.

I certainly joined my Honourable friend in doing that.

There was a very moving service in St Paul's yesterday,

where many of us were able to pay tribute to those brave pilots, to the ground crews,

to all of those, involved in what was not just an important moment in British history,

but an vital moment in world history as Britain stood alone, the only thing

that could stop Hitler and Nazism. And it's a reminder of how proud we should be of our

armed forces then, today and always.
