Jeremy Corbyn has just launched his bid to remain the Member of Parliament for Islington North,

the Northern constituency he's represented since before I was born back in 1983, so over four decades ago.

I was first elected to Parliament for Islington North in 1983 and in all those years we, the community,

have had many, many campaigns. We've had many,

defended and supported the Willington Hospital.

but members of Islington North Labour have been denied the right

to choose their own candidate and alongside that the community as a whole

has been disempowered because of that. So we have to stand up. We have to stand up and say we're not taking this anymore. We will assert our rights.

Now the former leader of the Labour Party was purged by the current leadership in an act of

straightforward, factional, vengeance, spite, bitterness, whatever you want to call it.
