Certainly you have been touched by the influence of my guest today, Jeremiah Tower,

whose book, By the way, which came out, I guess last year,

was one of the most fun books I've ever had, the pleasure of reading about etiquette.

His new book, of course, is Jeremiah's Star of the Fire.

But his book, California Dish, actually touches on a lot of the stuff that's in that.

And he's the central figure in the terrific documentary, the last magnificent Jeremiah Tower.

So you're a local hero.

So an honor to meet you. A local hero. There's like a misunderstanding. They didn't get it quite right.

But when I saw the title start the fire, I actually thought of that first chapter in California

edition, Taming the Fire. Right. Where you basically talk about what you said was your first public appearance.

Right, absolutely.

In Newport, at the Ashton Mansion, when we were supposed to do, well, we did the lunch,

but it was supposed to be out of the kitchen.

And the French crew, the young chefs, French chefs said, you know, wait a minute,

excuse me, you're just California kids.
