Hello there. This is Mary Demuth and this is Pray Every Day where I pray through the Bible verse by verse.

I'm humbled that you spend time with me and if you've started at the beginning of the year, we've made it almost to the end of the year.

A whole year of reading the Bible and that's been so fun.

As I look back over the seven years, seven and a half, almost eight years of pray every day, I am so excited to know that I've just been

reading the Bible and probably more than once now in the course of seven years. And by the way,

this is episode 2,908. Can you believe it? I've been doing this almost 3,000 times. What a

crazy woman I am. Today I'm reading from Jeremiah 40 in the world English

Bible, the whole chapter. This is what it says. The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh after

Nebiz Zaradon, the captain of the guard had let him go from Rama when he had taken him

being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who are carried away captive to Babylon.

The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him,

Yahweh your God pronounced this evil on this place,

and Yahweh has brought it and done according to as he has spoke.

Because you have sinned against Yahweh and have not obeyed his voice,

therefore this thing has come on you now behold

I release you today from the chains which are on your hand it seems good to you to come with me

into Babylon come and I will take care of you but if it seems bad to you to come with me to

Babylon don't behold all the land is before you where it seems good and right for you to go, go there.

Now when he had not yet gone back, go back then, he said, to Gadalia, the son of Hikum, the son of

Sheffin, whom the king of Babylon, has made governor over the cities of Judah and dwell with him

among the people, or go wherever it seems right for you to go.

So the captain of the guard gave him food and a present and let him go.
