Summary

After five years of working on their debut novel, The Last Season, Jenny Judson and Danielle Mahfood have officially gone from high school best friends to published co-authors. Jenny and Danielle join Zibby to discuss how they managed to write in one cohesive voice despite being both geographically distant and two individual people, the way in which their partnership held them accountable to the work over the course of many years, and why their differences in taste only served to make their story stronger.

0:45.9	The Last Season is a collaboration between Jenny and Danielle who met in high school and
0:49.9	shared a mutual love of historical fiction and romance novels.

0:54.6	Jenny and Danielle would write short excerpts from imaginary novels that featured themselves
0:58.3	and their classmates as characters caught up in tales of romance and adventure. Many years
1:02.7	later, after cheering for opposite teams at Harvard Yale Games, they came together in New York City
1:07.2	to begin writing the last season, inspired both by the Victorian period and the
1:11.0	financial crisis of 2008. And by the way, Danielle is one of my best friends from college.
