Jennifer Wells was a rare adult film star.

For a start, she had a career as a dancer and a singer for a number of years before she ever stepped onto a film set.

at the end of the 1960s, and she continued in a soft-co genre in the 1970s, appearing in a series

of Josanna films, such as Confessions of a Young American Housewife and Misty.

She was also one of the few actresses who made the transition over to hardcore films in the

1970s, working with

many of the best directors, like Chuck Vincent and Armand Weston.

In these films, she was often cast in older woman roles, which was appropriate given

that many were shot when she was in her early 40s.

And as her films became more and more successful, so did the Jennifer Wells name. Adult film fans flocked

to see her and for a time her name guaranteed box office success. The culmination of her career

and her last film was the hugely successful inside Jennifer Wells, which she shot for the

Evert branch of District Bix in 1977. The promotion around this film, both in adult and mainstream media,

was significant and pretty unprecedented, and it helped make the film one of the biggest

grossing adult films of the late 1970s. And then, after a 12-year film career, she disappeared
