It's Tuesday, it's New Year's Eve. Tonight is the night. Do you stay up? Do you stay up until midnight? Are you all excited about it? Or do you go to bed early? I've done it both ways, and I've had a lovely time doing both. Sometimes I stay up till midnight and sing. You'll have a glass of champagne and a kiss and a celebration, and sometimes I've been in bed by 10.30, fast asleep and woke up early on New Year's

day, fresh as a daisy. It's a question, isn't it? How do you want to bring in your new year? I have

changed during the pandemic. The party rumb has come down a little bit,

and I think it's for the best. So I'm going to try and have the best of both worlds tonight.

I'm having dinner with Bruce and our two dear friends, Alan and Robbie, who I've known forever.

I must have known Alan for 30 years since I met Bruce. Alan was

the very first person, one of the very first people at least, that I met, that he introduced me to.

So we're going to go for dinner tonight. We have a 9.30 reservation. We'll eat slowly. I eat fast.

I talk fast. I walk fast. I know, and I also do eat quite quickly, so I'm going to try and slow myself down tonight because I don't want to be finished eating at 10.30 and just sitting there waiting for the ball to drop. So I'm going to eat slowly. We've got a 9.30 reservation. So let's say we're at the table for 9.45, 10 o'clockish. I've got two hours to slowly eat and then a

glass of champagne at midnight and I'll probably be in bed by 12.30. We don't go out dancing or

partying after that. We come home. I clean my teeth. I wash my face. And then I want to have a

really, I don't want to say sober New Year, but I want to have a new year where I don't wake up with a hangover. That's my goal. I don't want have a hangover. I want to go out, I want to enjoy my friends, I want to dance, I want to sing, but I don't want to wake up with that throbbing hangover. When you're in your 20s, it doesn't really feel so bad, does it? You can pop out of bed like a piece of toast. When you're in your 30s, you can still sort of do it 40s. 50. Oh. And so I'm going to go to bed tonight with just a couple of glasses of champagne in me. Look, I've gone from one glass to two glasses in two minutes. I'm going to have a few glasses of champagne. I'm now wake up as fresh as a daisy and start the New Year out with a clear head and also to start the New Year out with all the naughties. Let's jump into our show. It's a good one today.
