Today I'm talking to the best-selling author, Jennifer Finney Boylan. We have a really wide-ranging

Jenny has had many roles in that, one being in 2005 when she was on the Oprah show.

So we discussed the impact that that had, and how that contributed towards changing the perception and the public discourse around trans people.

I mean, we still have a lot of work to do, but I imagine that as short as that time ago,

you were still defining what transgender meant to people.

Yeah, a big thing that happened with that book was when I came out as trans, I really had to kind of explain to people what I was talking about.

I remember people saying, so wait, transgender, does that mean you're like super gay?

Which I used to, you know, I get all across and angry and like, but now I'm like, yes, I am super gay.
