Hello there, everyone, and welcome to the bubble hour where real people tell real stories of addiction and recovery.

I'm your host, Gene McCarthy. I write the blog Unpickled. I've been telling my story there since my first day of sobriety in 2011.

So I write about my life there, and I ask you all about your life here. And today on the show,

I have an amazing woman, a fellow Canadian. Her name is Jen McNeely. And Jen built an entire

business around her lifestyle of partying and fun, creating a website to promote and review

events and venues and activities in her hometown of Toronto,

Ontario here in Canada.

And that enabled her to blur the lines between fun and work and also created a dynamic

that made it challenging when it came time to make changes in her life.

She's going to tell us about that.

And we're going to fast forward to

today where her business continues to thrive even as she lives differently. And also now she

organizes and hosts events for women in recovery. Jen, welcome to the bubble hour. Hi, Jean. Thank

you. Nice to have you here. I'm honored. So we met in New York. We were both on the

blogger panel at the She Recovers event in New York. How funny to go all the way to New York

to meet a fellow Canadian and become aware of the cool things that you're doing. We're sort of on

opposite ends of the country,

so our paths wouldn't have crossed otherwise. So it was really cool to get to know you there.
