Dolphins head coach Jeff Hathley chopped it up with the media this week at the NFL's owner meetings,

and he said some things that caught my attention.

Jeff Hathley, meeting with the media at the owner's meetings, talked about a whole bunch of stuff,

talked about finding physicality and culture guys.

He talked about cornerback play and defensive backplay as a whole.

He gave a very nuanced answer about like the template for finding players.

Talked about how they're going to build their scheme.

A whole bunch of interesting stuff from Jeff Halfley that I want to take some time and dive into

a little bit. So we'll start with this cornerback question that I believe was asked by

Marcel Luis Jacques from ESPN. Jeff Havley said there's three things when I watch

corners tape. I look at there's three levels of play. One is at the line of scrimmage. The second

he alludes to is intermediate

routes, hard breaks, when you got to stick and redirect and put your foot in the ground and drive

on throws. And then the third level is vertically down the field, right? And he said, you know,

the guys that can do all three of those things at a high level are the Hall of Fame type players.

And he's been around a few of those guys to know what that looks like.

Obviously, he worked with Darrell Revis at Pitt, what Richard Sherman, he's had a chance to coach and work with.

So he's felt those upper echelon players.
