My first deployment was down there to Panama and I spent a lot of time in that region.

If there was something bad happening, I usually was either in on it or we got there right after it.

And it was a wild, wild west type of an environment compared to what it is now.

I grew up not too far from here.

Texas boy, central Texas, one and raised.

Count myself lucky to have had the childhood that I had.

What do you mean by that?

I was one of those kids that parents kicked you out of the house, locked the door, pointed to the garden hose.

Lights came on at night.

That was dinner.

You missed it.

You had to wait till breakfast.
