Hey, folks, welcome to hour two of the Eric Metaxe show.

I was tempted today to do the show in the character of Dr.

Haralambos Hamilo Colos. He's a New Testament professor at a school that will not be mentioned.

But I thought, no, we can't do. This is too serious. We've got to get serious. So I'm speaking to

Eugenia Constantine, the author of

Thinking Orthodox, Understanding and Acquiring the Orthodox Christian Mind. So, Jeannie, you were talking

about this idea of phronima that, and again, whenever I address this stuff, to me, it's all

about what is it to be Christian. I don't care what it is labeled,

but this is coming to us out of the Orthodox tradition, and it's helping correct some grave errors in many of the other traditions, if we take this seriously.

Frankly, if the Orthodox would take it seriously, many of them are themselves aware of this. So if you are Orthodox or think

you might be, you should read this book. But the idea of changing your whole life to live in a way

that accords with God's will, his way of thinking, you said, and I've said it many times,

Jesus didn't kind of come down,

hand out some mimeograph sheets, and say, like, memorize those, do that, and I'll see you in,

you know, 2,000 years. He lived, he tabernacled among us so that we could see what is this

different kind of life like. And then when we receive the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to

live that. It's a completely different way of being. That's what you're getting at in this book.

Absolutely. And I'm so glad that you said that John 114, Eskinos sent any mean. He tented among us, he tabernacled among us. That meant that this person

that Israel knew in the wilderness was the same person, the son of God, who became a human being.

And why did the incarnation even take place? It happened so that God could teach us who God is and also so that he could
