In January of 2019, officers began to surveil Jerry Westram with the goal of obtaining a DNA sample.

He worked in Waite Park, Minnesota, a suburb of St. Cloud.

Because his page was publicly viewable, they learned that his daughter, Kay, played ice hockey for the College of St. Scholastica.
