0:11.5	I'm Patrick Miller. And I'm Keith Simon. Right now we're working through the story of David's life found in first and second Samuel.
0:18.0	A few weeks ago a friend of mine shared the best thought experiment I've heard in a while.
0:24.0	Okay, so here's what he said to do.
0:25.6	Imagine yourself in your dream job, okay?
0:28.8	So you're working with your dream team in your dream city and you get to post about it on social media and
0:35.2	all your friends are talking about how awesome and successful you are.
0:38.8	Okay, so next step I want you to imagine your most frustrating co-worker or just someone that you
0:47.1	seriously dislike. And I want you to imagine them doing that job. I want you to imagine them doing that job with the
0:55.8	team that you'd want to work with in the city where you'd want to live. And you're
1:00.3	seeing everyone talk about how awesome and successful they are on social media.
1:05.8	How would you feel?
1:06.8	Yeah, me too.
1:09.7	There's a lot of kinds of jealousy out there, but jealousy of success, at least in my own life, has been... of living illustration of this point because this little mind
1:24.7	experiment we just did that was his living reality and first Samuel 18 we read
1:31.4	six brief episodes and each one is designed to highlight David's
1:36.5	success, how the watching world loves him, and also to highlight Saul's descent into insane jealousy.
1:45.0	In verse 5 we read this,
1:48.0	whatever mission Saul sent him on,
1:50.0	David was so successful that Saul gave him a high rank in the army.
1:55.0	And you might think, why would a jealous person do that?
1:58.0	Well, remember, Saul's a people pleaser, so we keep reading.
