Jay Billis, the Billistrator, you've been around Duke basketball since your days, obviously, as a player in the early 80s.

Just to say this, I was born in the early 80s.

So more than 40 years later, I got to ask you in 2025, just on a basic level, what does Duke basketball mean to you these days?

First of all, that was totally unnecessary to tell me you were born in the early 80s.

I didn't need to know that.

What does it mean to me?

There's a depth of meaning to it that I probably couldn't put into words.

It's been a part of my life for the majority of my life.

I was 17 years old when I committed to Coach

K in 1981. And my life would be totally different if I didn't play for him. If I didn't go to Duke,

that's where I met my wife. You know, my whole life would be substantially different. I tell people

all the time, like, I don't, you know, I don't think I'd be selling pencils on the street somewhere if I didn't go to Duke, but my life would look substantially different.

Some of the names over the course of those years, I mean, the history of this team, we'll go back to Grant Hill.

I'll say Christian Leightner, personal favorite, Trajandick, Paula Bunchero, we can move all the way up to Zion Williamson, who I once saw play, by the way, at Virginia, when he ran all the way across the key and swatted a ball into next week.

I was sitting on Press Row, and there were four scouts behind me.

Four notebooks slammed immediately because they were all like, this is over.

We figured it out.

I only bring up all those names because right now,

Hooper Flag is the Blue Devil that has our attention.
