My guest today is I think the best songwriter in the world under 60 and someone I first met

in August of 2013 and his new album Reunions is out this Friday.

I have had the opportunity to listen to it for the last little while and Jason

Mandy did it again. Thank you so much Brian. Thank you. You know, it's it's a

challenge every time, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it's a

good record. Thank you. Yeah, I mean, I'm sure you'll know what you think of it

in a few years in a way. Yeah, yeah, you're probably right today.

After I've had to sing the songs a thousand times while then I'll decide if I like

them or not, but you know, this is the first one that I really after recording a record.

I spent more time driving around listening to this one in the car than I have any other

album. So I think that's a good sign. Oh, yeah, I think that that. Yeah, that means something.

If you can watch, for me, I know if I can watch the work right in the shadow of making

it and not just be cringing all over the place, it's a very useful sign. You know what I mean?

Hopefully you go kind of crazy watching it over and over when you're making it, but then

as soon as you're done, you're for me anyway, I stop. Yeah, I usually don't want to have

anything to do with it for a while. I mean, especially because I know I'm going to have

to go back out and perform it again at some point. And you know, I've kind of gotten

to the point where even sort of past cringing just on the last couple records on this one

and then the Nashville Sound. I've gotten to a point where I feel like I can listen to

it a little separate from the person who made it. And I don't know if you ever feel that

way about about your work, but that's a that's a really valuable gift, you know, and it's
