Basically, it comes down to whose schedule is everyone else on.

Meaning, when someone says something, you have to stop what you're doing to respond to them.

If someone can take your time by pulling off chunks of your calendar whenever they want,

then if you don't have your own time, then you have no control over your day.

When you have no control over your day, you end up working longer than you should.

In a startup world, we're scaling fast and exponential growth are the watchwords.

Jason Freed, the co-founder and CEO of Basecamp, is a strong proponent of running,

or maybe I should say strolling, in the other direction.

Rather than chasing hockey stick-like growth curves and running employees ragged,

he prefers to take the long view.

Believing that growing your business, slowly but surely,
