I was Hello everyone. Welcome to you another episode of Sleep and Relax ASMR.

Today I'll be reading some Japanese fairy tales. I found them through a site I think called

Feed Books.com. The author, well the translator I suppose, is Yee, Theodora Ozaki, who was an early 20th century

translator of Japanese short stories and fairy tales.

And her translations were fairly liberal, but have been popular.

Were reprinted several times after her death.

This comes from the preface and the preface in the preface in the book.

So anyway, I mean, it's a series of short Japanese stories or fairy tales, whatever you want to call them.

I don't speak Japanese, so some of these names that I say are probably not going to be properly

Properly read bear with me. I just figured it'd be a nice, you know, a nice episode to make.

Here's some short stories together and and kind of expand the catalog of episodes available on the podcast.

First short story is titled My Lord Bag of Rice.

Long, long ago there lived in Japan, a brave warrior known to all as Tawara Toda, or my lord bag of rice.

His true name was Fujiwara Hidesato, and there's a very interesting story of how he came to change his name.

One day he sailed forth in search of adventures, for he had the nature of a warrior and could

out bear to be idle.

So he buckled on his two swords, took his huge bow, much

tall than himself in his hand, and slinging his quiver on his back started out. He had not gone

far when he came to the bridge of Setano Karashi spanning one end to the beautiful Lake Pia.

No sooner had he set foot on the bridge than he saw lying right across his path a huge serpent dragon.

Its body was so big that it looked like the trunk of a large pine tree, and it took up the whole

width of the bridge.
