Welcome to today's independent travel podcast. I'm slightly giggling because I'm at Gatwick Airport and it's fairly chaotic and I'm in Brett.

I've just grabbed my stuff for the five or maybe even six hour flights to Egypt that I hope to be taking.

This was an exercise in last minuteism,

so I managed to get from one city in West London to clap and just... I hadn't checked in foolishly,

so that was the only window. I got to the check-in 55 minutes before my flight, which was little title than I was like going through security. An absolute dream.

I was just about to squeag all my water to make sure that I was compliant with security.

Then the guy said, oh, you don't need to do that.

We've got one of these new machines.

And so I said, can I leave my laptops and my liquids in as well?

He said, that's absolutely fine.

What a transformation through security in five seconds flat.

And, well, clearly, it's the first time I've experienced this

clearly the first time I have been able to sample these fantastic new machines and it makes life

much easier than it was so a very very changing events. Well worth talking about the railways.

Trains absolutely on time as far as I can see. Bear in mind that whatever it says about do not travel,

please stay away from the railways unless absolutely necessary. If you need to make a journey or you want to make a journey.

There's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't, assuming that you are in a position to be able to get your journey completed within the specified time.

It's quite exciting. It's like kind of getting around Latin America.

You've always got to make sure that you are properly ahead of things.

Anyway, here we are, boarding gate 51, which is miles away from where I'm at.

The airport's busy, we're not too busy. Middle of the morning flights and it's now 11 o'clock exactly.

It's a good time to be trying to travel because you will find that things are moving quite swiftly and easily.
