Hi, friends. I am Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles.

We will read three chapters a day and finish in 30 days. That's today. So each month we'll read all four books.

Today we finish up the Gospel of Mark and finish up our first month reading the Gospels. High five to you.

I really wonder what would stand out to you. Speaking of, I would challenge you today as I'll challenge you at the end of every month this year to write down one thing you learned about Jesus that you didn't know before we started this journey.

As the year goes on, I think you'll be amazed at the list you will create and how you will see Jesus in so many new ways, but write it down today.

What is one thing you have learned about Jesus that you did not know before January of 2023?

We only have two chapters left of Mark. So today instead of reading three, I will read two chapters to you.

You can listen or read along in your own Bible, and then I'll pray, and that's it.

So today is January 30th, day 30, and I will be reading Mark chapters 15 and 16, and the translation I am reading from this month is NIV-84.

Chapter 15. Jesus before Pilate.

Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law, and the whole Sanhedrin reached a decision.

They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.

Are you the king of the Jews? Ask Pilate? Yes, it is, as you say, Jesus replied. The chief priest accused him of many things.

So again, Pilate asked him, aren't you going to answer, see how many things they are accusing you of, but Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.

Now it was the custom at the feast to release a prisoner whom the people requested.

A man called Burabis was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising.

The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did.
