7. Now let's go back to January 24, 2001, at a Holiday Inn in Colorado Springs.

As the seconds ticked past midnight on the morning of January 24th, a tense phone negotiation ensued.

On one side was a team of Colorado Springs police officers

and FBI negotiators. They'd set up camp just outside a Holiday Inn not far from downtown

Colorado Springs. On the other side were two fugitives. Both in their late 30s, Donald Newberry and Patrick Murphy were the final remaining

members of the so-called Texas 7. The group was infamous for pulling off the biggest prison break

from a Texas state prison at that time. The criminals had all been on the run for over a month

before they were discovered in Colorado.

On that early morning, Newberry and Murphy were holed up inside room 426 of a Holiday Inn.
