Hi, friends. I am Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament and the Bible. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, and the miracles.

If you're just jumping in with us, the way we do this is we're going to read three chapters today and finish in 30 days.

So each month we're going to read all four Gospels. So go ahead and subscribe today. Join us as we read the Gospels together.

We are continuing today through the book of Matthew. We are working our way through. We've already finished Luke. We've already finished John. Now we got Matthew and then Mark.

I'll read three chapters to you today. You can listen or read along in your own Bible, and then I'll pray, and that's it.

So today is January 21st, day 21, and I'll be reading Matthew chapters 16 through 18, and the translation I'll be reading from this month is NIV-84.

Chapter 16, The Demand for a Sign.

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.

He replied, when evening comes, you say, it will be fair weather for the sky is red.

And in the morning, today will be stormy for the sky is red and overcast.

You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.

Jesus then left them and went away. The yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

When they went across the lake, the disciples forgot to take bread.

Be careful, Jesus said to them, be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

They discussed this among themselves and said, it is because we didn't bring any bread.

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked you of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread?

Do you still not understand? Don't you remember the five loaves for the five thousand and how many basketfuls you gathered?

Or the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many basketfuls you gathered?

How is it you don't understand that I was not talking to you about bread?
