Summary

In today's podcast I begin with some apologies. I got the location of the Sky Garden in London wrong and wasn't quite right about Britain's number two holiday destination. I must also make an apology for once again talking about France! In this episode, I'm reflecting on the costs of travel to and from Britain to Paris, as my Eurostar quote had me scrambling for alternative methods.

0:16.5

Well, I think I've got three apologies to make today.

0:22.5

A couple of them to do with what I mentioned last week.

0:27.3

I think I said that the Sky Garden, this amazing venue where you can look out across the city of London and across to the shard.

0:37.3

A fabulous free attraction that you have to apply online in advance for.

0:44.1

Well, I think I said it was in the Gurkin, which is this slightly bulbous looking building.

0:50.3

It's not.

0:51.0

It's in the building known as the Walkie Talkie. Absolutely, my apologies for that.

But searching online for the Sky Garden, we'll get you the tickets and we'll also get you the right address.

I also, I think on Friday, said that France was our second favourite country, which is sort of

1:14.6

true, but a couple of problems with it. First of all, you cannot ever say something's the second

1:20.1

favourite or tallest or best or whatever without actually saying what the top one is, and that's

1:25.7

Spain. And actually technically, if you look at the number of people from the UK who go on holiday to the UK,

1:33.3

France becomes only our third favourite country behind the UK and Spain.

1:39.9

And my third apology?

1:41.4

Well, it's because I'm going to be talking about France yet again.

1:46.1

I'm back from France, but a couple of matters arising from it, which I think are worth covering.

1:52.8

First of all, what do you do if you are an under 18 person?

1:59.1

Specifically, if you're between 12 and 17, because those are the ages

2:04.0

where you're going to need some verification, some vaccination, but you, or some status,

2:13.1

at least, on the COVID front. If you were under 12, you wouldn't need any.

2:18.3

If you're over, if you're 18 or over, you definitely will need it.
