Hi friends, I'm Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four

books of the New Testament and the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And these are the

stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices,

the meals and the miracles. We'll read three chapters a day and finish in 30 days, so each

month this year, we'll read all four books. But remember, we're just coming to January right

now. Just everybody's committed to getting through January. Go ahead and subscribe and join us

of Matthew. I'll read three chapters to you today. You can listen or read along in your own

Bible. And then I'll pray. And that's it. So today is January 17th, day 17. And I'll be reading

Matthew chapters four through six. And the translation I'm reading from this month is NIV 84.

Matthew chapter four, the temptation of Jesus. And then Jesus was led by the spirit into the desert

to be tempted by the devil. After fasting 40 days and 40 nights, he was hungry. The

Timter came to him and said, if you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.

And Jesus answered, it is written, man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes

from the mouth of God. Then the devil took him up to the holy city and had him stand on the highest
