Hi friends, I am Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of

the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories of Jesus Christ's

life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles. We'll read

three chapters a day and finish all four books in 30 days. So go ahead and subscribe today

and join us as we read the Gospels together. We're finished in the second week of January and we

started with the book of John. Now we are finishing up the book of Luke today and tomorrow.

I'll read three chapters to you today. You can listen or read along in your own Bible and then I'll

pray. That's it. Today is January 14th, day 14 and I'll be reading Luke 19 through 21 and the

translation I am reading from this month is NIV 84. Chapter 19, Zacchaeus, the tax collector.

Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus. He was

a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man,

he could not because of the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore fig tree to see him

since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him,

Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today. So he came down at once and

welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to mutter. He has gone to be the guest of a

sinner. But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, look, Lord, here and now I give half of my

possessions to the poor. And if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times

the amount. Jesus said to him, today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a

son of Abraham. For the son of man came to seek and save what was lost. The parable of the

10 minus. Well, they were listening to this. He went on to tell them a parable because he was near

Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once. He said,

a man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself a point of king and then to return.
