Good morning, everyone, the Simple Handicap for Monday, January 10th.

As always, recording this Sunday evening.

The late game Raiders and Chargers just kicked off.

We've seen now one sports book go to market with their prices, a tip of the cap to Fanduel for doing it.

I've got to say, and taking $500 is a pretty acceptable thing to do going first in this market as well

and sort of tipping your hands on the numbers that have been posted.

Now, as always, every year I have this gripe

sent a sports book that I cannot say the name of this podcast anymore.

Let's put it this way.

Their owner went missing in this scandal.

They used to go like immediately. And it was an offshore book,

obviously. And for like the better part of like four or five years, they would like send out

ridiculous openers. And they always claimed that it was legitimate. But I am convinced that it was

them doing it to fake other people within the market who were trying to set

prices to. And so there would always be like this mad scramble back and forth where games

would move like a couple of points like really, really quickly in the opener. Now that they're not

in there, the last, I would say two seasons prior to this, we've sort of been waiting to see

who's going to go first and when.

And so it was good to have at least something up relatively quickly here.

But I'm always surprised that on a regular game week, we can have several books setting

prices all before kickoff of the Sunday night game.
