In New York, a young man has been accused of shooting and killing his uncle and also shooting another relative.

In Florida, a young girl contacted law enforcement and reported that her mother was being attacked in their home.

And over in Utah, a woman went missing after borrowing a relative's car to pick up her boyfriend.

On Friday, January 3rd at around 10.45 a.m., deputies with the Broome County Sheriff's Office,

as well as officers with the New York State Police, responded to a reported shooting.

When law enforcement arrived at the home on Leslie Avenue in the town of Conklin,

they were immediately met with gunfire. One neighbor later recalled, quote,

they opened the front door and the guns go off. They ran, they got

their vests on, and they pulled their rifles. After a brief standoff with the alleged shooter,

they were able to get him into custody. He was later identified as 21-year-old Matthew Bartosik.

As deputies and officers were working to clear the home, they found two people suffering from

gunshot injuries.

A man later identified as 61-year-old Michael Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who was not named was also rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

At the time of this writing, the woman is in serious but stable condition after being shot in the face.
