One of the things that was very striking to me when I was looking through the du'ats for

Jannah is that when you actually read through the Quran, there are very few du'ats for Jannah.

In fact, almost all of the du'ats are protection from the fire or asking a lost

out for forgiveness or asking for mercy. And the implication of that is that if you ask Allah

Subhanahu wa Ta'ala for forgiveness, then you will go back to your natural home because the natural

disposition of the believer is towards Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and the natural destination for the

believer is with Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala in paradise.

Sometimes you hear du'ats and they sound so fancy and it's like I want to memorize it exactly

as it sounds and the reality is Allah wants you to be sincere. Ask Allah for Jannah and be sincere

and there's a beautiful Hadith where there was a man who came to the Prophet's life and he was

frustrated because he felt like his du'ats weren't poetic enough and he said to the Prophet's

life, said, I don't understand you're humming and the humming of Mu'aah they've been jubbable

the Allah Ta'ala and who like you and Mu'aah you have such beautiful du'ats and I don't understand

those du'ats and I don't know how to make du'at like that. The Prophet's life, said, well,

what do you do? He said, I just make Shahada and then I say, Allah ma inni as al-Qal Jannah wa

a'udhu biqa min annar. Allah ma inni as al-Qal Jannah wa a'udhu biqa min annar. And the Prophet's

life, said, me and Mu'aah do the same meaning we basically take that and then we build on that.

And this idea here that you know the du'ats are meant to be simple. We just ask Allah for paradise

and we ask him to avoid hellfire and then we build on that. Don't over complicate things with

your du'at. However, in Shahada, we'll go through five du'ats that we can make for al-Jannah that we
