triumphs and come out of it all even stronger.

I'm your host, Chelsea Devantes, I am a writer, comedian and filmmaker, and this week we

are book clubbing Jane Fonda's memoir, published in 2005.

This is one of the very first memoirs I ever read, and I dare say it is not a memoir.

It is a textbook.

It's true, it's 600 pages long.

It is a textbook on how to be a woman and how to be a fighter and in re-reading it.

I discovered long-held beliefs of mine that I had forgotten came from this book.

So I just want to say a big, happy Father's Day to Jane Fonda's memoir, you helped raise

me.

That's why all of the great conduits of perception, Buddha, Muhammad, Jesus, Lao would say,

all of them spoke to us in stories and poetry and metaphor because the non-linear, non-cerebral

forms that are art speak on a different frequency.

They generate a new energy that can jolt us open and penetrate our defenses so that

we can see and hear what we may have been afraid of seeing and hearing.

That was Jane Fonda speaking at the Golden Globes when she was given a Lifetime Achievement

Award.

She has been nominated for something like 32 Golden Globes.

I really loved that part of the speech because I just believe in it.
