I'm Faith Moore, and this season we're reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

Each episode, I'll read one chapter from the book,

pausing from time to time to give brief explanations so it's easier to follow along.

It's like an audiobook with built-in notes.

I hope you're doing well.

And, you know, it's funny, I don't know if there are any writers in the audience, but I, as you probably know, am a writer. And Chapter 21 struck me as something that is a really great trick for writers. And I just, it just hit me

and I was, I wanted to share, which is that in Chapter 20, we got this huge scene, this gothic scene with the attack of Mr. Mason and

Jane in the room with the blood and the dark and Mr. Rochester rushing away and leaving

her there, et cetera, et cetera, right?

And as we discussed last episode, we have now all of these questions.

And people, by the way, have been writing in with their guesses

about what is going on. What's going on with Grace Pool and the third story. Keep those coming,

please. Keep those guesses coming. I'm collecting them. And we're going to talk about them at the end of the

book. But, you know, people are writing in with their guesses. We're like, what's going on? What's

going to happen? And the very next chapter takes Jane completely away from the

action. It just totally removes her from everything that's been going on, everything that we've been

wondering about, everything that could possibly be revealed, and takes her far, far away,

100 miles away, to Gateshead, where she's dealing with a completely different set of issues and a
