Hello and welcome to Storytime for grownups.

0:03.8

I'm Faith Moore, and this season we're reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

0:09.5

Each episode, I'll read one chapter from the book,

0:12.8

pausing from time to time to give brief explanations so it's easier to follow along.

0:17.7

It's like an audiobook with built-in notes.

0:23.7

So brew a pot of tea, find a cozy chair,

0:47.5

and settle in. It's story time. Welcome. Thank you so much for being here. This is the first ever episode of Storytime for grownups, and I could not be more thrilled to be starting this journey with you. Let me tell you a little bit

0:52.7

about what I hope this podcast will be.

0:55.5

The goal of story time for grownups is to help you learn to love classic literature,

1:00.3

or to love it even more if it's already your thing. Whether we choose to admit it or not,

1:05.5

1:12.3

1:17.8

1:23.7

We just need a way in. My hope is that the more you listen, the easier the language will seem.

1:30.3

For this first season, we're reading my favorite book of all time, Jane Eyre.

1:36.3

Each episode, I'll read one chapter aloud.

1:40.3

As I read, I'll stop to offer explanations for things that may not be clear to the modern reader,

1:45.0

word definitions, super quick, scene summaries, things like that.

1:49.0

I'll only stop when it seems necessary and I won't go on and on.

1:53.0

You can listen like an audiobook or follow along in a copy of your own.

1:57.0

If you'd like a summary of the chapter or a basic analysis, I've linked to the relevant

2:01.9

Cliffs Notes pages in the show notes.
