Tonight I'll be reading Part 7, Chapter 13 of Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen.

In the previous chapters, Catherine's hopes for a walk with the Tilneys are thwarted by rain,

and John Thorpe manipulated her into a carriage ride by saying that he saw the Tilneys leave without her. Catherine later finds this is a lie and is furious.

The next day, Catherine attempts to apologize to Miss Tilney, only to be turned away,

leading her to believe she'd been snubbed.

However, at the theatre, Mr Tilney explains his sister's absence was due to their father,
