Nearly eight months after a fanatical mob of Trump supporters invaded the U.S. Capitol,

the House Select Committee investigating the events of January 6 has signaled as preparing

for a sweeping probe that will leave no stone unturned.

This week it sent a wide-ranging request for documents to eight federal agencies seeking

emails, text messages, and phone records of former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows

and other top Trump staffers, as well as Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, Lara Trump, Donald

Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner, not to mention Rudy Giuliani, Roger Stone, Michael Flynn,

and Steve Manon, as well as members of Congress and their staffs.

It's a breathtaking, possibly unprecedented request, but raises the question, what will

they actually find?

Well there's no doubt many of those from whom the committee is seeking documents actively

promoted the bogus idea that election fraud had robbed Donald Trump of the second-term

in office.

A new Reuters report states that so far the Justice Department, in its own investigations,

has uncovered scant evidence that the January 6 rioters were being directed to commit

violence as part of a criminal plot from the top to overturn the election.

We'll talk to the reporter who broke that controversial story, Mark Hosenball, and we'll

check in with law professor Kimberly Waley on what the investigation might yet uncover
