It is Monday, January 30th, 2020. Let's get into the mix.

Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one is 2023 like 2011. Number two,

the big issues of this week. And number three, John Hickenlooper urges the Fed to hold off on rate hikes.

Let's get into it. The top of punchable news this morning is keying off the

official announcement that Joe Biden and Speaker Kevin McCarthy will meet on Wednesday at the

White House. This is their first one-on-one face-to-face meeting of the 118th Congress since McCarthy has become speaker and since McCarthy

has been calling for ad nauseum a meeting between the two men over the debt limit.

Now, the White House says this meeting is not only about the debt limit.

They are going to talk on a wide range of issues.

And we have no reason to doubt that.

But McCarthy feels like, and we've reported this, I think we reported this last week,

he feels like he's already won.

He feels like he's already won because he's gotten a meeting with

McCarthy, with the president over a host of issues, including the debt limit, in basically in

February. And now the White House maintains that the debt ceiling is not up for negotiation.
