Four minutes after 12, you're not allowed to ask why Theresa May is reduced to begging business leaders to sign a letter saying they approve a for Brexit stance.

That is a mystery which I think probably qualifies as rhetorical.

You're allowed to ask pretty much anything else. This is your weekly opportunity to achieve

the sort of satisfaction, not ordinarily available anywhere else on your radio. We deal in

whose and whys and whens and withers, wences and even the occasional wherefore. Any

question at all, as long as it's interesting, funny, thought-provoking, whatever the criteria may be,

it's an incredibly broad charge.

The goalpost could barely be wider, but there are some things that we don't allow.

For example, dullness.

We try and treat dullness as a sworn enemy on this programme, 15 hours a week.

But in this particular hour,

dullness is policed even more carefully than the rest of the time.

So if you have a question in your mind, but on reflection,

you don't think anyone else will be interested in the answer.

Just sit back and enjoy the listen.

If it's to do with motoring, for example,

then it almost certainly will fall foul of the litmus test.

Otherwise, it's just like the newspaper magazine features where a reader will write in and say,

why do we do that? What's the origin of this? Where does that come from? How come when a posh white

bloke speaks about beliefs that are incredibly insulting to women and homosexuals, it's fine.
