I'm the host Scott Feinberg, and my guest today is a living legend, who is best known for his work as a director,

specifically as one half of the Merchant Ivory Director producer team that was behind beautiful

literary adaptations like 1985's A Room With A View, 1987's Maurice, 1992's Howard's End, and 1993's The Remains of the Day,

and who is also a tremendous screenwriter,

most recently responsible for adapting Andre Assaman's 2007 novel,

Call Me By Your Name, into a script for the 2017 film of the same title

that ultimately was directed by Luke Guadagnino and received massive acclaim, including

a best adapted screenplay Oscar nomination for him,

the great James Ivory.

It's worth noting that Ivory has somehow never won an Oscar, but is widely expected to win this one, a result that would make him at the age of 89 the oldest Oscar winner ever in that category.

And barring a win this year by Best Documentary Feature Oscar nominee Agnes Varda, who is a week older, the oldest

Oscar winner ever, period.

But first I was joined at the offices of the Hollywood reporter by my friend and colleague

Rebecca Ford, our awards editor, to discuss the

Oscar landscape heading into the start of the final round of voting on Tuesday, February 20th

and extending for a week after that.
