Summary

James Evenson, aka Sailing Zingaro on YouTube, has sailed tens of thousands of miles on a variety of boats and had countless adventures. Several of those adventures have ended either in disaster or heroics, depending on your perspective, and it got me wondering - what is true seam'nship? James and I sat down face to face in Annapolis and had a ranging and thoughtful conversation on his life before sailing, what he learned in the Navy, how to make a living on YouTube and how to define the line between bravery and stupidity.

And I knew, because the bridge deck was open at that point, that what would happen is a wave would come.

0:06.2

It would come up the bridge deck, bounce against the boat, fill that up, and then we would flip over.

I was 100% sure that was going to happen.

Go to getorca.com to modernize your boat's navigation system. I've been advocating for

0:22.6

tablet navigation for many, many years now, and this solution is pretty awesome. I've been using it

0:28.7

on Spica all summer. I just delivered Spica from Stockholm into Ann Shopping. It's about a 50-mile

inland sail through a lake, and the navigation was spot on right in front of me.

0:38.2

Super easy. One of my favorite things is it's a touchscreen, but it also has physical buttons

0:42.8

so you can press buttons to zoom in and zoom out and re-center on the boats,

0:46.7

on the boats position icon. Really, really cool, super installation. Can't say enough good things

0:51.7

about it. I've had several people actually buy the

Orca since we started talking about it on the podcast. We've also got some stuff on Instagram about

using it. So check out GetOrca.com and thank you to Orca for sponsoring this episode of the show.

1:21.5

This is really nice, but I do like sailing.

1:24.4

I mean, I was thinking about that when we were underway down below. There's no escape from the sound, even though this is a really nice powerboat. It's not that loud, but there's no escape. So I think I'm not converted, but I do really like it. We have a lot to cover in the pre-intro today because this is like our boat show recap, and it's been a whirlwind two weeks here in Annapolis. But but before that if you don't want to listen to any of that uh we're doing an open house
