Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, countries around the world have been struggling to upgrade their testing capacity.

Complicating the testing landscape is the development of a separate kind of test, known as serological tests,

which test for the presence of COVID-19 antibodies within our system as opposed to testing

for the presence of the disease itself. This technology offers an important tool for returning

our societies to something approaching normal functionality.

And it's also the subject of a timely new article in Jama, the Journal of the American Medical Association, by managing editor Jennifer Abassi.

On Wednesday, Miss Abasi spoke to me over Skype from her home in Chicago.
