what's up everybody gonna issue with another segment of Jake's takes and I've gotten for the past

couple days ever since the since the double a ruling and we've touched on NIL a little bit even though

this this isn't the same thing the Supreme Court obviously ruling in the favor against the NCA

for the student athlete and the institutions and a lot of people have hit me up saying okay what

does this mean I've had you know you have crazy theories that this means this that it means that

it's just a total free for all right now and that's not what it means if you look at what this

ruling does and really what it affects is it takes the restrictions off any benefits you can give

academics related to the student athlete so you know laptops tutoring studying abroad being able to

give people scholarships after their eligibility you look at you know college basketball for an

example and in two lanes athletic director was talking about this you know you get 11.7 scholarships

for the basketball team but now you'll be able to tell guys hey we can put you on scholarship

after your eligibility or be able to be a little bit more malleable in that way this this isn't saying

that okay schools you can just pay student athletes whatever you want to pay them this does not

say that this says that from an academic standpoint for the student athletes there is no more

restriction and you can do and give whatever you want you can award scholarships based on academic

achievement or cash on academic achievement graduation stuff like that it's not hey we're going

to give you this because you made 12 tackles in the game that's that's not what it is and I don't

want people to conflate those two things uh what what else it says and this is a big part

is that conferences can impose restrictions on this conference is still have the right uh

the conference to come together and say hey we want to do this or are we we want to you know hold

up a little bit on this and make our own rules but if you do that as a conference if you choose to

make those decisions you're actually hurting yourself in recruiting you're taking away a
