I mean, when you think about what were your early conceptions of the American story, usually

you're thinking about John F. Kennedy as not what your country can do for you, as what

you can do for your country. I think that presidents kind of tell us who we are. They tell

us what we stand for. They tell us where we're going. And they fill that gap of what is our

national identity. That's Ben Rhodes. He served in the Obama administration for all eight

years, like my previous guest, Valerie Jarrett. He's also the co-host of Pod Save the World

from Crooked Media and the author of the best-selling book The World As It Is, a memoir of the

Obama White House. Sometimes for me foreign policy can be an intimidating topic to tackle.
