Not much. I see you're in a new place.

I am in a new place for all of our viewers. I now live in New Mexico, just moved into a new house, which is why things are looking a little sparse behind me.

So apologies in advance if there's a little bit of an echo or if this surrounding is not very exciting, but there will be more to come.

Oh, and also if you're in New Mexico or even if you're just in the mountain time zone, like let us know in the chat because you're my people.

You got to put in some more work before you're just you can claim them, you know, it's true. Yeah, well, well, don't forget I am from Idaho, which is also in the mountain time zone. So I'm kind of returning back to the Rocky mountain routes.

But New Mexico is totally new for me. I happen to know that one of your friends, Dustin Westella, sometimes says that the Southwest is going to be the new hotbed of American socialism. I'll keep you all posted.

That's true. I mean, clearly second after Philly because we are already the hotbed, the epicenter of the world of socialism itself.

I knew you were going to pull your Philly superiority card yet again, but since we are talking about different regions of the US, I'll give it to you.

Right. It's a sign of great insecurity. If you haven't noticed it, and Philly, we're very insecure.

Well, actually, you know what I was just thinking. Now that I'm in New Mexico, none of the hosts of the Jacobin show or of the weekends show are based in New York City anymore. So we're no longer.

I mean, our Philadelphia is a coastal elite. You probably are right. You still coastal elite.

I don't know. I mean, it's hard to really think of any Philadelphia as an elite.

But yes, that's a good sign that we are, you know, can't call us coastal elites anymore.

Well, jokes aside, we've got a great show today. We're having Alex Hokule on. He is the co-host of the podcast Alpha Vanga Bunga. He'll be coming on a little later to talk to us basically about the breakdown of neoliberalism and or whether neoliberalism is on its deathbed.

I kind of feel like ever since the 2008 crash, we've sort of heard again and again that neoliberalism is dying. Some people have gone so far as to say that it's dead.

I think it's fair to say that it is in a specific moment of crisis. What are your thoughts?

Well, I mean, first of all, what is neoliberalism? What is neoliberalism?

That reminds me. I feel like when Jacobin first started as a publication, literally every article, and I wrote these types of articles too,

were like, this thing is neoliberalism. Do you know what I'm talking about? All of the early issues, this chair is neoliberalism.
